Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has opened up on the painful loss of his father, personal regrets, and lessons about love, revealing how grief shaped his outlook at the start of 2026.
Speaking during a recent interview with media personality JayonAir, Egbuson reflected on his career journey, emotional struggles, and growth, noting that he brought a new confidence and swagger to Nollywood.
“There was a certain way actors were back in the day, but then I came and made it look cool. I was a cool guy before Nollywood. I brought confidence and jealousy. Whether they admit it or not, everybody is using my playbook,” he said.
The actor described 2025 as one of his best years, adding that he entered 2026 with optimism before tragedy struck.
“On the 1st of January, I found out that I lost my dad. I really had to deal with this type of grief,” Egbuson said, explaining that it was his first time losing a close family member.
He admitted that the loss hurt even more because his relationship with his father was not as close as he wished.
“That was one thing I wanted to work on in 2026. I prioritised work so much that I should have been more available,” the actor revealed.
Egbuson also spoke candidly about regrets in his love life, confessing that a past relationship still weighs heavily on him.
“She’s married now. I don’t know if you have more than one soulmate, but I’m convinced that she was my soulmate. All she wanted was for me to be present,” he said.
According to the actor, the experience taught him a vital lesson about success and fulfillment.
“Money is just one out of many things that matter,” he noted.
When asked if he still thinks about starting his own family, Egbuson responded, “All the time,” adding that he has learned from past mistakes.
“She’ll be priority. She is. She’ll be priority,” he said.
The Nollywood star had earlier announced his father’s death on Instagram, where he shared photos and paid tribute to his late dad.
