Yobe Teen Bride Allegedly Fatally Stabs Husband in Domestic Dispute

Potiskum, Yobe State – In a shocking domestic incident, an 18-year-old bride, Khadija Jamilu, allegedly stabbed her 25-year-old husband in the genitals during an early morning dispute on Friday, February 6, 2026.

According to the Yobe State Police, the husband was rushed to a federal medical centre in Azare, Bauchi State after sustaining a deep cut injury. The suspect reportedly fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Police Public Relations Officer Dungus Abdulkarim said in a statement on Saturday that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect. “Investigation into the case is ongoing, and all measures are being taken to locate the fleeing suspect,” he stated.

The Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, used the opportunity to urge couples to uphold peace and mutual respect in marriage.

“Marriage should be based on understanding, patience, and tolerance. Couples must never resort to violence, abuse, or humiliation.

Proper counselling, peaceful dialogue, and involving trusted mediators can prevent tragedies like this,” he added.

Authorities are calling on communities to prioritize marital counselling, anger management, and conflict resolution to avoid violent outcomes in domestic disputes.
