National News – The Nigerian Bar Association has extended warm greetings to Muslims across Nigeria as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, marking the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan.
The legal body also called on citizens to uphold peace, unity, and compassion as communities gather to celebrate the significant Islamic festival.
In a statement released on Friday and signed by its President, Mazi Afam Osigwe (SAN), the association described Eid-el-Fitr as a period that highlights the importance of sacrifice, discipline, devotion, and generosity.
According to the NBA, the spiritual reflections and acts of charity observed during Ramadan reinforce principles that are essential to justice, fairness, and service to humanity.
The association noted that the month-long fasting, prayers, and charitable activities undertaken by Muslims serve as powerful reminders of the values needed to build a stronger and more inclusive society.
It added that these virtues align closely with the ideals of the legal profession, particularly the pursuit of justice and equity for all citizens.
The NBA further urged Nigerians, regardless of religious or ethnic background, to embrace the lessons learned during Ramadan.
It stressed that the spirit of Eid-el-Fitr should inspire individuals and communities to promote tolerance, understanding, and peaceful coexistence across the country.
“As families and communities gather to celebrate, share meals, offer prayers, and extend kindness to the less privileged, we encourage Nigerians to reflect on the lessons of Ramadan by strengthening unity and supporting one another,” the statement said.
The association also acknowledged the current social and economic challenges facing the nation and encouraged citizens to renew their commitment to nation-building.
It emphasized that unity, compassion, and respect for justice remain critical to overcoming the country’s difficulties.
The NBA concluded by praying that the Eid-el-Fitr celebration would bring renewed hope, abundant blessings, and lasting peace to Muslims and all Nigerians.
