National News – Chukwuma Soludo has appointed Mrs Chiamaka Nnake, 39, as the Secretary to the Anambra State Government (SSG), making her the first woman to hold the position in the state’s history.
The appointment was announced on Monday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime.
Nnake, who hails from Nawfia in Njikoka Local Government Area, brings more than 13 years of experience in finance, strategy, and public sector planning to the role.
Governor Soludo approved the appointment as part of a broader restructuring of key government positions following his second-term inauguration on March 17, 2026 in Anambra State.
The decision, according to the statement, aims to strengthen governance and accelerate socio-economic development across the state.
As SSG, Nnake will coordinate state government policies, manage executive decisions, and oversee administrative operations within the governor’s office.
Before this appointment, Nnake served as the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, where she supervised the mobilisation and allocation of government resources for development programmes.
She also chaired Solution Fun City Limited, a government initiative aimed at boosting tourism and economic activity in the state.
Her leadership portfolio includes roles on several strategic boards and agencies, such as the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, the State Internal Revenue Service Board, and the Small Business Agency.
She currently serves as the state’s Reform Champion for Ease of Doing Business and focal point for Social Investment Programmes, initiatives designed to encourage business growth and inclusive economic expansion.
Before joining the state government, Nnake worked as a Senior Strategy Consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Nigeria, where she handled over 30 consulting engagements across multiple sectors.
During that period, she contributed to the development of Anambra Vision 2070, a long-term development blueprint for the state.
Earlier in her career, she worked as a Business Analyst at IHS Towers and later as an Equity Research Analyst at Meristem Securities Limited.
Nnake holds an MBA from Lagos Business School and graduated with First-Class Honours in Accounting from Benson Idahosa University.
Governor Soludo also approved additional appointments including Mrs Ngozi Iwouno as Head of Service, Joachim Anetoh as Principal Secretary, Dr Ben Nwankwo as Chief of Staff, and Prof Frank-Collins Okafor as State Chief of Protocol, among others.
