National News – Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles striker, has successfully undergone surgery on his fractured right forearm, Galatasaray confirmed on Monday.

The procedure was performed at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital in Istanbul by the club’s doctor, Op. Dr. Yener İnce, following an injury sustained during a UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match against Liverpool.

Osimhen, 27, collided with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate in the 10th minute but played on until halftime before being substituted due to severe pain.

After medical assessments confirmed the fracture, his arm was placed in a cast.

He briefly returned to Nigeria before coming back to Istanbul for the operation.

The Turkish champions extended well wishes for a speedy recovery, though no official return date was provided.

During a livestream with Nigerian influencer Carter Efe, Osimhen had indicated a recovery period of up to six weeks, including four weeks of medical recovery and two weeks of individual training before rejoining the team.

According to local Turkish media, Osimhen could potentially return for the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahce on April 26, depending on his rehabilitation progress.

Despite the setback, Osimhen has had a prolific season, scoring 19 goals and providing seven assists across all competitions for Galatasaray.

The injury underscores the risks top athletes face in high-stakes matches and highlights Galatasaray’s commitment to player health and rehabilitation.

Fans eagerly anticipate his comeback, which could significantly influence the Turkish league and Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League campaigns.
