National News – Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced plans to headline and host his first-ever music festival in the United Kingdom.
The event, titled “Davido & Friends Festival,” is scheduled to hold on August 14, 2026, at the iconic Crystal Palace Bowl in London.
The singer made the announcement on Monday through his X (formerly Twitter) account, revealing that the show will bring together a lineup of artists and collaborators in what is expected to be one of the biggest Afrobeats events of the summer.
Davido, also known as OBO, said the festival would be a historic moment in his career as he presents the inaugural edition of the event to fans across Europe.
“For the first time ever, I present to you Davido & Friends Festival. It’s going down at Crystal Palace Bowl on August 14th,” the award-winning artist wrote in his announcement post.
According to organisers, the concert will form part of the “Palace Bowl Presents” summer festival series, which will run between July 31 and August 16, 2026 at the outdoor venue in South London.
The programme features a variety of international music performances, but Davido’s curated show is expected to highlight Afrobeats and African music culture on a global stage.
While Davido will headline the event, the full lineup of performers — described as his “friends” — has not yet been disclosed.
Industry observers anticipate that several notable African and international artists who have collaborated with the singer may join the stage during the festival.
The announcement comes months after Davido completed his successful 2025 international tour promoting his fifth studio album, 5IVE.
The tour included performances in multiple cities across Africa and Europe.
During the African leg of the tour, the singer held major concerts in Akwa Ibom, Adamawa, Enugu, Ibadan, and Lagos, drawing thousands of fans and reinforcing his status as one of Africa’s most influential music exports.
With the upcoming UK festival, Davido aims to further expand Afrobeats’ global reach while creating a platform that celebrates African music, collaboration, and live entertainment for international audiences.
