National News — A former Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 Bayelsa State governorship election, Joshua Maciver, has officially resigned his membership from the party.
In a resignation letter dated March 27, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of APC, Olodiama 2, Ward 04, Constituency 4, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Maciver stated that his decision to withdraw from the party was based on personal reasons.
The letter says, “I, Mr. Joshua Maciver, a card-carrying member and the immediate past Deputy Governorship candidate under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 Governorship Election in Bayelsa State, hereby resign and withdraw my membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
He noted that the reason for his resignation was strictly personal, without providing further details.
Despite his decision to leave the party, Maciver expressed appreciation to the APC for the opportunity given to him during his period of membership.
“Finally, I am grateful to the party for giving me the platform to be a very active member throughout the period of my membership of the party,” he stated.
His resignation adds to the evolving political developments in Bayelsa State ahead of future political alignments and party activities.
