National News – The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has officially barred Lukman Mudashiru, the lawmaker representing Ayedire/Iwo/Olaoluwa Federal Constituency, from entering his palace.
Oba Akanbi accused Mudashiru of neglecting Iwo’s traditional institutions, emphasizing that as the traditional ruler, he deserves a stewardship explanation from the elected official.
Mudashiru, an indigene of Iwo, was elected under the Peoples Democratic Party in 2023 but now aligns with the Accord Party.
Before barring Mudashiru, Oba Akanbi had endorsed Ayodeji Bello, another Iwo indigene seeking the Accord Party ticket for the same constituency in the 2027 elections.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page, the Oluwo said, “By virtue of my position, I deserve a stewardship explanation from the current lawmaker representing the constituency, which he has failed to provide.”
The statement added that Oluwo, as the traditional head of Iwo and Osun West Senatorial District, commands respect and honour from both elective and appointed political representatives.
Oba Akanbi reiterated that Mudashiru, whether directly or indirectly, represents the district’s interests, and his accountability to traditional institutions is essential.
Oluwo openly declared Mudashiru barred from entering his palace.
Oba Akanbi said, “As a cultured Yoruba man, would you start bathing from the leg? Capital NO.
The day a man tries to walk with his head is the day he begins an open madness.”
When contacted, Mudashiru described the dispute as a family matter, saying, “It is an issue between a father and his son. It will be resolved because it is a family affair.”
The incident highlights the ongoing tension between traditional authority and political representation in Osun State as the 2027 elections approach.
