National News – The Ondo North Senatorial District representative, Olajide Ipinsagba, has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership to address internal conflicts threatening party unity in Ondo State.

The senator made the call after a faction within the APC, known as Concerned Indigenes and Members of APC, petitioned the party’s national leadership to deny him a return ticket, citing poor performance in his constituency.

The petition, signed by Director-General Olatunde Ajayi, accused Ipinsagba of underperforming and argued that he should not be considered for a second term.

In response, Ipinsagba, through his media aide Olayinka Ajagunna, dismissed the claims as coming from faceless, disgruntled members intent on creating division within the party.

The senator highlighted that these individuals were involved in anti-party activities during the 2023 elections and have a history of undermining APC unity.

He stressed the importance of leadership decisions being based on evidence, results, and the will of the people rather than opportunistic narratives.

Ipinsagba warned stakeholders that interfering in the party’s candidate selection could repeat past fractures and weaken the APC’s credibility in Ondo North.

He emphasized that his performance in the National Assembly has positively impacted his constituents and that any attempt to influence party decisions with baseless petitions threatens both local and national cohesion.

The senator called on APC leadership at both state and national levels to check the disruptive elements and ensure the party remains united ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s 2026 re-election campaign.

“Ondo North has witnessed the results of effective leadership. Disruptive factions should not dictate the party’s future or the people’s voice,” the statement added.

Ipinsagba’s appeal comes as the APC navigates internal disputes and prepares for upcoming elections, highlighting the ongoing challenges of maintaining party discipline and public trust.
