National News – Freya Ridings, the British singer-songwriter famed for her 2018 hit Lost Without You, has overcome personal and professional setbacks to reclaim her music career.

After facing a crisis of confidence during her second album Blood Orange, Ridings battled panic attacks, toxic management, and a downsized record label, leaving her without a team or resources.

Determined to regain creative control, she sold out a 32-date European tour independently, reconnecting with fans who supported her through the turmoil.

Ridings’ breakthrough came when she decided to take charge of her own destiny, flying to Los Angeles to collaborate with producer Jen Decilveo despite her manager’s discouragement.

“I paid for my own ticket and I got on the plane anyway,” Ridings recalls, describing the moment as liberating.

Spending a year in LA, she wrote her third album Mother of Pearl, channeling confidence, rebellion, and personal growth into songs like Euphoria, Wild Horse, and Strength In Me.

The album showcases her signature ballads alongside stirring anthems, demonstrating a renewed self-belief and artistic independence.

During her LA stay, Ridings road-tested new material at intimate café shows, refining tracks based on audience feedback.

She also drew inspiration from family stories, such as her parents’ romance, highlighting her close-knit support system.

With producers Sam De Jong, Fraser T Smith, and Toby Gad, she describes the recording environment as collaborative and empowering—a stark contrast to her previous “masculine-dominated” studio experiences.

Mother of Pearl is set for release on 29 May under BMG, with songs already receiving acclaim on her Australian tour with OneRepublic.

Ridings’ journey emphasizes the importance of creative autonomy, self-belief, and resilience in the music industry, showing fans that even after setbacks, it’s possible to rise stronger and more authentic.
