National News – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State has formed a high-powered exit committee to examine its future as Governor Bala Mohammed hints at a possible defection.

The move comes amid ongoing discussions about the governor potentially joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Governor Mohammed met with an ADC delegation led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, at the Government House, Bauchi, stating that ADC appeared “welcoming and acceptable” but that consultations were ongoing.

Bauchi PDP Chairman, Samaila Burga, confirmed that the committee’s mandate is to assess all available options, including the possibility of leaving PDP, and recommend a course that best serves party members and the state.

The committee is chaired by Deputy Governor Auwal Jatau and includes representatives from the National and State Assemblies, commissioners, party executives, local government chairmen, and senior party figures to ensure broad-based participation.

The Secretary to the State Government serves as the committee secretary.

Burga explained that the committee will consult widely before submitting its recommendations.

A stakeholders’ meeting will be convened afterward to review the report and decide on the PDP’s political alignment in Bauchi.

This development comes after Governor Mohammed publicly indicated ADC as his preferred platform while emphasizing the need for careful deliberations to avoid political missteps.

The committee’s creation signals a potential realignment in Bauchi politics ahead of future elections.

Party members are closely watching the developments as the PDP explores strategic options to maintain relevance, balance internal interests, and safeguard its influence in the state.

With the political atmosphere intensifying, the PDP’s exit committee could redefine alliances and impact governance and electoral strategies in Bauchi.

Observers note that such high-level consultations demonstrate a proactive approach to managing internal party dynamics and the broader political landscape.
