ADC Denies Leadership Change Amid Online Rumors

By Our Correspondent

National News – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed circulating reports suggesting a change in its leadership.

In a statement on Sunday, ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi labeled the claims as fabricated misinformation and urged Nigerians to disregard them.

He emphasized that any posts regarding a leadership shift are false and should be flagged on social media.

The denial follows an online report claiming that Senator David Mark had stepped down as national chairman, with former party leader Ralph Nwosu reportedly taking over to manage party affairs ahead of upcoming elections.

These rumors emerged amid ongoing disputes over the ADC’s structure and internal leadership tensions.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently removed the names of Mark’s National Working Committee from its official portal, citing a Court of Appeal directive.

The commission stated it would maintain the status quo until a Federal High Court case in Abuja is resolved.

The appellate court’s judgment on March 12, 2026, instructed all factions to refrain from actions that could affect the outcome of the dispute.

Despite the ruling, the Mark-led NWC rejected INEC’s decision, calling for the commission’s dissolution.

The faction confirmed it would continue preparations for the ADC National Convention, scheduled for April 14 in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Abdullahi reiterated that the party’s leadership remains unchanged and urged citizens and media outlets to avoid spreading unverified reports.

He stressed that the ADC is committed to ensuring internal stability and transparency as it prepares for its national convention.
