National News – Streaming platform Kava TV has restored normal service after a sudden surge in user traffic overwhelmed its servers following the release of the Nollywood movie Behind The Scenes, produced by filmmaker Funke Akindele.
The issue occurred over the weekend as thousands of viewers attempted to stream the movie simultaneously, causing temporary loading difficulties on the platform.
Kava TV disclosed the development in a statement posted on its official Instagram page on Sunday, explaining that the unusually high number of users trying to access the movie at the same time placed heavy pressure on its system infrastructure.
According to the platform, its technical team quickly intervened to stabilise the service and expand server capacity.
The streaming company confirmed that the disruption was temporary and assured viewers that normal viewing had been fully restored.
It also thanked fans for their patience, noting that the overwhelming response reflected the strong popularity of the film.
The movie Behind The Scenes has recorded major commercial success both in Nigeria and internationally.
In the United Kingdom and Ireland, the Nollywood production grossed £159,000, making it the highest-grossing Nollywood release in those markets.
The film has also generated an impressive ₦2.7 billion at the Nigerian box office, placing it among the biggest titles in the country’s film industry.
Distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, the movie continues to attract attention for its relatable storytelling and star-studded cast.
The film features actors including Scarlet Gomez, Funke Akindele, Iyabo Ojo, Destiny Etiko, Tobi Bakre, Uzor Arukwe, and Mr Macaroni.
The story explores themes surrounding fame, success, and the hidden emotional struggles faced by public figures.
It also highlights the social concept known as “black tax,” which refers to the financial and social responsibility many successful individuals feel toward supporting extended family members.
Industry observers say the film’s strong performance demonstrates Nollywood’s growing influence in global entertainment markets.
With its success across cinemas and streaming platforms, Behind The Scenes continues to strengthen the international appeal of Nigerian storytelling and filmmaking.
