National News – Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State welcomed returning members into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo North, emphasizing unity and development.
The governor highlighted his administration’s visible progress through the SHINE Agenda and assured all party members of equal opportunities within the APC.
Speaking at the Auchi Open Field in Etsako West Local Government Area, he stated that government resources are being effectively used to improve living standards, and the party’s 2.5 million votes will demonstrate strong support.
The state APC Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, alongside Edo North party leaders, formally received the defectors, describing their return as a major boost to the party’s strength.
Tenebe reaffirmed Senator Adams Oshiomhole as the sole candidate for Edo North Senatorial District ahead of upcoming primaries, a decision supported unanimously by party members.
Former Etsako East Local Government Chairman, Benedicta Attoh, representing the defectors, described the move as a “homecoming,” noting that many were original APC members.
She referenced the biblical prodigal son to illustrate that returning to the party was a natural choice.
Among the notable defectors were former Edo State House of Assembly member Sylvester Eruaga and hundreds of Peoples Democratic Party members, who lauded the APC as a beacon of hope.
Governor Okpebholo reiterated the APC’s focus on sustained development, improved living conditions, and inclusive political opportunities, highlighting the party’s achievements despite limited resources.
The rally symbolized strengthened party cohesion and an optimistic outlook for future elections, with returning members signaling confidence in the APC’s leadership and its role in transforming Edo State.
