Comrade Solomon Charles Ikpaka, a House of Assembly aspirant for the Ekeremor Constituency Three seat, has resigned his membership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Ikpaka conveyed his decision in a resignation letter dated September 19, 2026, addressed to the Ward Chairman of Eduwini Ward I, Ekeremor Local Government Area.
In the letter titled “Notice of Resignation,” Ikpaka formally informed the party leadership of his decision to quit the NDC, and expressed appreciation to the party for the support and privileges he enjoyed during his membership.
Ikpaka, however, did not state any reason for his resignation in the letter, but sources in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State say it was because of the unfair treatment he and other constituency three House of Assembly aspirants received from the leadership of the party.
Ikpaka and four others namely Alex Jenakumo, Johnbull Cleopas, Barr. Torke Johnson Ekpetun and Hon. Stephen Alafia Imiemene, aspired for the constituency three seat and were told by the NDC that the party would hold a direct primary election, but after spending millions of Naira on campaigns and settling stakeholders, the party changed its decision.
A source in Ekeremor Constituency Three said just two days to the supposed day of the primary election, the NDC told them that they would settle for a consensus candidate, and deceived the aspirants to agree with the promise of refunding them their money and other expenses.
However, after abiding by the party’s decision, the NDC failed to return their money to them, and since then, it has been from one ugly story to another.
Sources also said that sadly, one of the aspirants, Stephen Alafia Imiemene, has died in the process of waiting for the NDC to refund their monies, and stakeholders are not sure whether the party will refund the deceased’s family the money.
It is believed that this is the reason behind Ikpaka’s decision to resign his membership of the NDC.
Ikpaka who is a grassroots mobilization force in Ekeremor Constituency Three is yet to announce a new party, but his followers are awaiting his new political direction.
