National News – Fulham F.C. have received a major boost ahead of their upcoming Premier League clash with Liverpool F.C. as defender Calvin Bassey has been confirmed fit for selection.
The Nigerian international was previously a doubt after withdrawing from the Nigeria national football team squad due to a back injury during the March international window.
Bassey missed the recent international friendlies against the Iran national football team and the Jordan national football team in Antalya due to fitness concerns.
However, Fulham manager Marco Silva confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the defender has fully recovered and is available for selection.
Fulham also reported that all players returning from international duty came back without fitness issues.
However, the team will be without Kenny Tete, Harrison Reed and Kevin Mbabu for the trip to Liverpool.
Bassey has been a key performer for Fulham this season, featuring in most of their league fixtures and contributing defensively and offensively.
His return adds stability to the backline and boosts the team’s confidence ahead of a crucial encounter against the defending champions.
Alongside Bassey, fellow Nigerians Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze are also available for selection after international duty.
Fulham will hope to capitalise on their strengthened squad as they aim for a positive result in one of the weekend’s standout fixtures.
