The command disclosed that the case, now being treated as culpable homicide, was reported at the Olamaboro Divisional Police Headquarters on June 25, 2026.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Oyiza Salisu Afusat, preliminary findings revealed that the incident occurred on June 18, when a man identified as Abdullahi Ishaka, accompanied by two women, allegedly stormed Brains Minds Nursery and Primary School in Ugbamaka and attacked a teacher, Maryam Usman, aged 30.

According to the police, the assault was allegedly triggered by the teacher’s decision to discipline a pupil.

“The victim sustained serious injuries during the attack and was initially treated at a hospital in Ugbamaka before she was referred to Iko-Ojo Hospital in Okpo for further medical attention. She later died on June 25, 2026,” the statement said.

The police spokesperson said detectives visited both the scene of the incident and the residence of the deceased to document evidence as part of ongoing investigations.

She added that arrangements were being made to move the body to the General Hospital, Ankpa, for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Afusat disclosed that the suspects fled before police operatives arrived at the scene, noting that efforts were underway to track and arrest them.

She assured that once apprehended, the suspects would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough and discreet investigation.

The command reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice is served and urged members of the public to provide useful information that could assist in the arrest of the fleeing suspects.
