National News – A Washington-based lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C., has issued a warning against President Bola Tinubu’s administration over alleged insecurity and electoral integrity concerns in Nigeria, stating that it is briefing United States officials on the situation while advocating possible sanctions if conditions worsen.

The firm said it is engaged in Washington, D.C., United States, where it is lobbying the administration of US President Donald Trump and briefing policymakers on Nigeria’s democratic and security challenges.

It stated that its engagement is tied to a $1.2 million contract signed in March 2026, with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, aimed at advocating US involvement in addressing insecurity and ensuring free and fair elections ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 polls.

The firm further disclosed that it is engaging the United States Congress and National Security Council, warning that it may push for sanctions under the Global Magnitsky framework if credible evidence links Nigerian officials to human rights violations or electoral malpractice.

It also raised concerns over insecurity in parts of Nigeria and alleged electoral interference, insisting that accountability measures, including asset freezes, could be considered if violations are proven.

Political analysts note that the development highlights increasing international lobbying around Nigeria’s 2027 elections, with the firm positioning itself as an advocate for democratic reforms and security interventions.

The statement comes amid ongoing debates over election credibility, governance, and rising insecurity, which the firm says it will continue to monitor and present to US policymakers.
