Kwankwaso, Dickson Meet Over Court Ruling on NDC Registration

National News – The vice presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Sunday held a meeting with the party’s National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, following the recent Federal High Court ruling that nullified the party’s registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The meeting comes days after the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, vacated its December 10, 2025 judgment that had ordered INEC to register the NDC as a political party.

Justice Isah Dashen ruled that the earlier judgment was constitutionally defective because all parties with an interest in the case were not heard before the decision was delivered.

The ruling followed an application by the Peace Movement Party, which argued that it should have been joined in the suit.

The court’s decision has sparked reactions from opposition figures, with some alleging attempts to undermine Nigeria’s multi-party democratic system.

Confirming the meeting in a post on his official Facebook page, Dickson said he and Kwankwaso discussed issues affecting the party and its future.

“We reaffirmed our resolve to stand together in the fight for multi-party democracy, and I briefed him on the measures the party is taking to correct and redress the distractions occasioned by the anomalous ruling of the Federal High Court. We are on course,” Dickson stated.

The former Bayelsa State governor added that the party’s leadership remained united and was taking legal and political steps to address the implications of the court’s decision.
