National News – Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered stolen vehicles and a fabricated pistol during coordinated intelligence-led operations across Ogun and neighbouring states.
The suspects were linked to multiple vehicle theft cases affecting motorists across the Southwest.
Police said the raids followed intelligence reports and surveillance tracking.
Police also said intelligence sharing with neighbouring commands was key to tracking stolen vehicles across state boundaries without delay.
On May 1, 2026, the Ogun Police confirmed an intelligence-led crackdown on a robbery syndicate operating across Ogun, Oyo, Lagos, and Abuja.
The operation aimed to dismantle networks behind stolen vehicle trafficking.
Authorities said the crackdown was based on months of surveillance and complaints from victims.
The suspects operated in coordinated cells targeting parked vehicles and highway commuters.
The aim was to curb rising armed robbery incidents and restore public safety across affected states.
Suspects arrested include Hammed Olarewaju, Adedokun Ayinde, and Adedokun Adewusi.
Detectives intercepted Olarewaju after noticing suspicious number plates, leading to further arrests of alleged gang leaders.
Investigations revealed coordinated theft operations across state borders.
Recovered intelligence also linked the syndicate to previous robberies reported in Ogun and adjoining states, suggesting a wider criminal network under investigation.
Recovered items include a Toyota Sienna, Toyota Corolla, and a Lexus SUV traced to Abuja-related theft cases.
A fabricated pistol and another firearm were also recovered in Lagos.
The stolen vehicles were tracked across Ibadan, Ajah, and other locations.
Police noted that vehicle identification numbers were used to trace movements of stolen cars, helping operatives recover assets quickly and safely.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised the operation, describing it as evidence of effective intelligence policing.
He assured residents that fleeing suspects would be apprehended and urged public cooperation to strengthen security and reduce vehicle theft.
Security agencies encouraged citizens to report suspicious activity via emergency hotlines, stressing community participation as vital in crime prevention efforts nationwide.
