National News – A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Kano State, Rabi’u Bichi, has predicted a landslide victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking to journalists on Friday in Kano, Bichi said the ruling party’s strengthened political structure and growing alliances position Tinubu strongly for re-election.
He explained that the prediction is based on recent political developments, including endorsements, defections, and grassroots mobilisation across the state.
Bichi, who currently serves as Managing Director of the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, noted that key political blocs in Kano have united behind Tinubu’s candidacy.
According to him, stakeholders aligned with former governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s structure, members of the National Assembly led by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and defectors from opposition parties have formed a formidable coalition.
He added that this level of elite consensus was absent during the 2023 elections but now provides the APC with wider reach across Kano’s 44 local government areas.
He further revealed that party supporters recently raised ₦50 million—half of the ₦100 million nomination fee—to demonstrate commitment to Tinubu’s candidacy.
Bichi said this financial mobilisation reflects strong grassroots backing and organisational capacity unmatched by opposition parties.
He also cited federal projects such as the Kano-Maradi rail line, irrigation expansion, and key political appointments as factors influencing public support in favour of the President.
The APC chieftain also referenced the defection of Governor Abba Yusuf, stating that it has merged state and federal political structures, giving Tinubu an incumbency advantage ahead of the 2027 polls.
He stressed that historically, such political alignment in Kano often results in decisive electoral victories.
The endorsement of Tinubu as the APC’s sole presidential candidate was ratified during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Kano, marking a significant step in early campaign consolidation.
