National News – Five federal lawmakers from Osun State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have commended President Bola Tinubu for approving federal road projects worth about N700bn in the state.

The lawmakers also cautioned against misinformation about the origin and execution of the projects, insisting that the interventions were achieved through legislative engagements and presidential approval in Abuja, Nigeria.

Five APC federal lawmakers representing Osun State in Nigeria have praised President Bola Tinubu on Saturday, May 2, 2026, over the approval of federal road projects valued at about N700bn.

The projects, located across key corridors such as Ibadan–Ife–Ilesa–Akure–Owo and Osogbo–Gbongan–Iwo–Ibadan roads, were secured through legislative motions, Senate engagement, and executive approval processes aimed at improving transport infrastructure and economic development in the South-West region.

They also warned against misinformation, stating that some social media posts wrongly attributed recent project progress to state-level actions, while insisting that the federal government remains the primary executing authority.

According to the lawmakers, engagement with President Tinubu and the Minister of Works led to accelerated approval and release of funds for the N700bn road projects, which are expected to boost trade, mobility, and regional connectivity.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State also acknowledged federal intervention, expressing appreciation for the rehabilitation of major roads and noting potential economic benefits for residents and businesses across the state.

Officials say the infrastructure projects form part of wider national efforts to improve road safety, reduce travel time, and stimulate economic growth across Nigeria.

Stakeholders in the region believe the projects will significantly enhance connectivity between Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, and Ondo states, while also creating jobs and improving access to markets and social services for local communities.

Analysts note that the N700bn Osun road projects represent one of the largest federal infrastructure commitments in the South-West in recent years, reinforcing Tinubu’s focus on national infrastructure renewal and economic integration.

The projects are expected to commence in phases following procurement and contractor mobilization across the state.
