National News – The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, has declared that Nigeria’s next president ahead of the 2027 general elections has already been determined by God, urging citizens to remain calm and prayerful amid rising political activities.
Speaking on Saturday during a workers’ meeting at the Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Adeboye said the outcome of the election is ultimately beyond human control.
According to him, God, who governs the affairs of men, has already chosen the country’s next leader.
He stressed that while Nigerians can participate in politics, divine will would prevail over every human effort.
He cautioned Nigerians against fear or tension as the 2027 elections approach, advising them to combine civic participation with prayer.
Adeboye also clarified his stance on political involvement, noting that faith does not exclude participation but requires trust in God’s sovereignty.
The cleric responded to remarks by Omoyele Sowore, who described him and other pastors as “fathers of Christians in Nigeria.”
Adeboye rejected the label, explaining that leadership of Nigerian Christians rests with the Christian Association of Nigeria, not individual pastors.
He also dismissed claims that the RCCG is aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress, insisting the church remains neutral while speaking on national issues like economic hardship.
Adeboye added that he would support any peaceful protest called by Christian leaders if necessary and reaffirmed that politicians are welcome in church services but would not be allowed to campaign from the altar.
