National News – At least 10 people have been killed and 76 injured after fresh Russian drone and missile attacks struck multiple regions across Ukraine, officials confirmed on Sunday.

The deadly strikes hit Kherson, Odesa, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy within the past 24 hours, as the ongoing Russia-Ukraine War continues to intensify.

Ukrainian authorities said the assaults involved a ballistic missile and nearly 270 drones, though most were intercepted by air defenses.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that Kyiv responded with counterattacks targeting Russia’s oil infrastructure.

According to him, an oil terminal in Russia’s Leningrad region, near Finland, sustained significant damage.

He also stated that Ukrainian drones struck two oil tankers near the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, believed to be part of Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet” used to bypass Western sanctions.

Zelensky noted that the attacks aimed to disrupt Russia’s oil export capacity, which Kyiv claims funds the war effort.

Footage released alongside his statement appeared to show a naval drone approaching one of the vessels.

Ukrainian officials say recent strikes on Russian energy facilities have already caused billions of dollars in losses.

Meanwhile, Russian authorities reported that Ukraine launched at least 334 drones, with heavy targeting in the Leningrad region.

Despite the scale of these attacks, the Kremlin has downplayed their impact, although concerns are growing over Ukraine’s ability to strike deep into Russian territory.

The escalation comes just days before Russia’s annual Victory Day celebrations marking the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II.

Citing security concerns and what it described as a “terrorist threat,” the Kremlin has announced plans to scale back this year’s parade.

The conflict shows no sign of easing, with both sides increasing aerial operations and strategic strikes on infrastructure, raising fears of further civilian casualties and prolonged instability.
