National News – The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has announced readiness to partner with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Sadiat Toyin Lawal Foundation, and Tabernacle Worship and Prayer Ministry in California to strengthen healthcare delivery in Ibadanland, Oyo State, Nigeria.
Speaking on Monday, May 4, 2026, at his palace in Oke-Aremo, Ibadan North Local Government Area, he said the initiative aims to improve access to quality healthcare services and promote healthy living among residents.
He also facilitated a strategic meeting between the visiting delegation and officials of the Oyo State Primary Health Care Board, led by Executive Secretary Muideen Olatunji, to ensure effective implementation.
The visiting team, led by Toyin Lawal, said the collaboration would support community health outreach across primary health centres, tertiary hospitals, and local government areas.
They also proposed donations of medical equipment, health resources, and advocacy programmes focused on health education and sensitisation.
According to the monarch, the partnership is designed to combine international expertise and local structures to address healthcare gaps and improve service delivery in Ibadanland.
This collaboration is expected to enhance capacity building for health workers, improve medical outreach in rural communities, and support preventive healthcare programmes across Oyo State.
Traditional rulers present included Balogun of Ibadanland Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, Otun Balogun Oba Kolawole Adewole, Osi Olubadan Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, Ashipa Olubadan Oba Amidu Ajibade, Ekerin Olubadan Oba Adebayo Akande, and Ekerin Balogun Oba Mobolaji Adewoyin.
Officials noted that the partnership would also facilitate knowledge exchange, research collaboration, and the introduction of modern healthcare technologies into local health systems.
The initiative is expected to reduce healthcare gaps, strengthen primary healthcare delivery, and improve overall public health outcomes in Ibadanland.
Stakeholders emphasised that sustained collaboration between international partners and local institutions will be key to ensuring long-term success of the programme.
This aligns with efforts to expand access to quality healthcare and support government initiatives aimed at improving wellbeing across communities.
