National News – Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has officially submitted his nomination form to the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The submission took place on Thursday in Abuja and signals Yusuf’s formal bid for a second term under the APC platform.

The governor was accompanied by prominent political figures, including former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Senator Kawu Sumaila, members of the House of Representatives, and other party stakeholders from Kano State.

Speaking after submitting the form, Yusuf described his re-election bid as a renewed commitment to serving the people of Kano State.

He explained that his administration plans to expand urban renewal projects, improve road construction, modernise markets, and increase drainage infrastructure across the state.

According to the governor, rural development will remain a top priority through investments in feeder roads, water supply systems, healthcare centres, and schools in underserved communities.

The governor also pledged stronger support for agriculture and youth empowerment programmes aimed at boosting job creation and economic growth.

He said education and healthcare delivery would continue to receive attention while stressing that peace, unity, and inclusive governance remain central to his administration’s agenda.

Yusuf further reaffirmed his alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to attract more federal projects and development opportunities to Kano State.

Yusuf defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party to the APC in January 2026 following internal crises within the NNPP.

His return to the APC was backed by several lawmakers and local government chairmen.

Kano APC stakeholders later endorsed him as the party’s sole governorship candidate and presented him with nomination forms ahead of the 2027 election.
