National News – Air Peace has temporarily suspended its scheduled Lagos to London Gatwick flight after engineers detected a minor technical fault during a routine post-boarding inspection.
The airline announced the development on Saturday, explaining that the issue was discovered after passengers had already boarded the aircraft at the Lagos airport.
According to the airline, the aircraft was immediately withdrawn from service to allow engineers carry out necessary repairs in line with international aviation safety standards.
Air Peace said all passengers were safely disembarked while technical experts assessed the fault to prevent any safety risk during the journey to London.
The airline stressed that passenger safety and crew wellbeing remain its highest priorities, adding that the decision to suspend the Lagos-London service was taken as a precautionary measure despite the inconvenience caused to travellers.
Management noted that swift action was necessary to maintain operational safety and avoid potential complications during the international flight.
Air Peace further disclosed that affected passengers were informed promptly about the delay and provided with hotel accommodation, refreshments, and support services while waiting for alternative travel arrangements.
The airline also confirmed that a replacement aircraft would be dispatched from London to operate the delayed service and transport passengers to their destination.
The incident occurred amid growing attention on airline safety procedures and operational reliability within Nigeria’s aviation sector.
Air Peace thanked passengers for their patience, cooperation, and understanding during the disruption, assuring customers that the airline remains committed to delivering safe, reliable, and efficient flight services across its domestic and international routes.
The Lagos-London route is one of Air Peace’s major international operations, connecting Nigerian travellers to the United Kingdom through the Gatwick service launched to expand the airline’s global presence.
