National News – The President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Afam Osigwe, has called for the immediate release of abducted lawyer and National Youth Service Corps member, Eunice Ameh, following her reported kidnapping in Abuja.

The NBA described the incident as painful and disturbing to the legal community, urging security agencies to act swiftly to secure her freedom.

Osigwe made the appeal on Saturday through a statement shared on X, where he expressed concern over the disappearance of the young lawyer serving under the NYSC scheme in the Federal Capital Territory.

According to him, the association sees the matter as personal because the legal profession is built on shared sacrifice, support, and unity among members.

The NBA president explained that behind every missing person case are worried relatives, anxious colleagues, and friends hoping for a safe return.

He stressed that no corps member or young Nigerian serving the country should disappear without a rapid and coordinated response from law enforcement agencies.

He called on the Inspector General of Police to deploy tactical and intelligence resources to rescue Ameh and ensure those linked to her abduction are brought to justice.

Osigwe added that every hour matters in kidnapping cases and urged authorities not to treat the matter with routine assurances.

Reports indicated that suspected kidnappers demanded a ransom of N20 million after Ameh was abducted in Abuja.

Before the incident, she had reportedly resumed work as a Sales Manager at Blades and Butchers Ltd while completing the final stage of her NYSC programme, including her Community Development Service activities.

The NBA also appealed to members of the public with useful information to cooperate with security agencies to aid rescue efforts and ensure the safe return of the young lawyer.
