National News – Senator Seriake Dickson has expressed deep sorrow over the kidnapping and killing of former House of Representatives member, Abba Anas Adamu, describing the incident as a tragic loss to Nigeria’s political landscape.

Dickson revealed that the late politician, who hailed from Jigawa State, was not only a political ally but also a close friend and confidant for nearly two decades.

The senator disclosed that Adamu was abducted amid worsening insecurity in Northern Nigeria before he was gruesomely murdered.

According to Dickson, the shocking news reached him through mutual associates and colleagues who were devastated by the development.

He lamented the growing wave of kidnappings and violent attacks across the country, stressing that the nation continues to lose patriotic citizens to insecurity.

Dickson recalled their time together in the House of Representatives around 2007, where they worked closely under the Nigeria First Forum.

He explained that Adamu played a key role during the political crisis that followed the illness of late President Umaru Yar’Adua.

He noted that the late lawmaker courageously supported the historic Doctrine of Necessity that paved the way for Goodluck Jonathan to become Acting President and later President of Nigeria.

The former Bayelsa governor further stated that despite political setbacks and opposition in his home state, Adamu remained committed to national unity and democratic values.

He added that the deceased continued to stand by him throughout his political journey, including during his service in the Senate and the formation of the NDC political movement.

Before his death, Adamu was reportedly aspiring to contest the 2027 governorship election in Jigawa State under the African Democratic Congress.

Dickson prayed for strength for the deceased’s family and described him as a loyal nationalist whose death would leave a painful void in Nigerian politics.
