Victoria Samson Named UNIOSUN Chancellor

National News – Osun State University has officially presented the appointment letter of chancellorship to Victoria Samson, recognising her contributions to business leadership, philanthropy and national development.

The presentation was carried out on Thursday in Ibadan, Oyo State, by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Odunayo Adeboye, on behalf of the Osun State Government and the institution’s Governing Council.

According to the university management, Samson’s appointment took effect from May 10, 2026, and will run for an initial five-year term.

The appointment letter, signed by Ademola Adeleke, stated that the business executive was selected because of her achievements in entrepreneurship, humanitarian service and commitment to national growth.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony at the corporate headquarters of BOVAS & Company Ltd in Ibadan, Adeboye explained that the new chancellor would serve as the ceremonial head of the university while providing moral, strategic and inspirational support to help the institution achieve its academic goals and international relevance.

The vice-chancellor also praised Governor Adeleke for promoting merit and competence in appointments within the university system.

He noted that the governor had consistently encouraged the management to focus on individuals capable of contributing meaningfully to the institution’s development without political interference.

Responding to the honour, Samson expressed gratitude to the Osun State Government, the Governing Council and the university management for the confidence placed in her leadership.

She described the appointment as a privilege and pledged to support the continued growth, academic advancement and global reputation of the university.

The university management added that arrangements for Samson’s formal investiture ceremony would be announced soon.
