National News – Former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, has emerged as the governorship candidate to lead the African Democratic Congress movement ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Sokoto State.
The announcement was confirmed on Friday through a statement released by his former Press Secretary, Aminu Abubakar.
Dan’iya, who once served as deputy to former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, expressed appreciation to party leaders, political associates, elders, youths and women groups for supporting his emergence as the ADC governorship candidate.
The former deputy governor, who also holds the traditional title of Walin Sokoto, described the development as a major responsibility.
He pledged to promote unity, political stability and sustainable development across Sokoto State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to Dan’iya, the ADC movement is focused on inclusive leadership, people-oriented governance and policies that will improve the welfare of residents in Sokoto State.
He explained that the growing support from stakeholders reflects a shared vision for a better political future in the state.
Speaking on the role played by Tambuwal, Dan’iya commended the former governor for his continued guidance and commitment to political growth in Sokoto State.
He noted that the support from influential political stakeholders has strengthened the movement’s preparation for the coming governorship race.
Dan’iya also urged members and supporters of the party to remain peaceful, united and focused as consultations continue ahead of the 2027 elections.
Reports indicated that no fewer than 10 aspirants had earlier shown interest in contesting for the governorship position within the party, including former Ambassador to Jordan, Faruk Malami Yabo.
The emergence of Dan’iya is expected to shape political discussions in Sokoto State as parties intensify preparations for the next electoral cycle.
