National News – The All Progressives Congress has rescheduled its National Assembly primary elections in Zamfara State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party announced the new timetable on Saturday through its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

The decision affects the House of Representatives and Senate primaries earlier planned for this week.

The APC, however, did not disclose the exact reason behind the latest adjustment.

According to the revised schedule, the House of Representatives primary election will now hold on Monday, May 18, 2026, while the Senate primary is fixed for Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

The state House of Assembly primary will take place on Wednesday, May 20, followed by the governorship primary on Thursday, May 21.

The party also confirmed that its presidential primary election remains scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026.

The APC further released dates for appeals arising from the primaries in Zamfara State.

Appeals for the House of Representatives primary will be heard on May 19, while Senate primary appeals are expected on May 20.

Appeals connected to the House of Assembly primary will hold on May 21, while governorship primary appeals are slated for May 22.

The development comes amid rising tension within the ruling party across several states ahead of the primaries.

Reports of protests, disagreements over candidate selection, and allegations of imposition have increased pressure on party leaders loyal to President Bola Tinubu to maintain unity before the elections.

Earlier in the week, the APC leadership shifted the House of Representatives primaries nationwide from May 15 to May 16, citing logistical challenges.

Political analysts believe the repeated changes in the timetable may be linked to internal consultations and reconciliation efforts within the party.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has directed political parties to conclude all primaries and resolve disputes before May 30, 2026, ahead of the 2027 elections.
