National News – Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that ongoing infrastructure projects across Abuja and surrounding communities will strengthen support for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike made the remarks on Tuesday while inspecting projects scheduled for inauguration as part of activities marking Tinubu’s second year in office.
The former Rivers State governor said residents of the FCT are beginning to feel the impact of governance through improved roads, streetlights, water supply projects, and judicial infrastructure.
According to him, many satellite towns and rural communities that lacked basic amenities are now witnessing development under the current administration.
Wike explained that voters are more concerned about practical results than political promises.
He stated that good governance, better living conditions, electricity, and road construction remain the key demands of Nigerians.
He added that recent Area Council election outcomes in the FCT already show growing support for the ruling APC.
The minister pointed to projects such as the A2-Pai Road in Kwali, the Gomani-Yangoji Road, and the Kuje-Gwagwalada Road as evidence of efforts to spread development beyond Abuja city centre.
He also noted that it was the first time a sitting Nigerian president visited Kwali to inaugurate a project.
During the inspection tour, Wike visited the rehabilitation site of the Appeal Court Complex in Dakibiyu, Judges’ Quarters in Katampe, road projects in Gaduwa and Kabusa, and the Apo Mechanic Village relocation site.
He revealed that several projects are close to completion, while water and security facilities would soon be added to the Apo relocation centre.
Wike disclosed that not fewer than 20 projects would be inaugurated during the anniversary celebrations.
He insisted that the administration’s development agenda covers both urban and rural communities across the Federal Capital Territory.
