National News – The Kebbi State Government has distributed five Toyota Prado SUVs to traditional rulers in the Zuru Emirate as part of efforts to improve security operations and strengthen community leadership in vulnerable areas of the state.

The vehicles were presented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Dutsinmari, on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris during an official ceremony held in Kebbi State.

The beneficiaries include the chiefdoms of Fakai, Sakaba, Danko, Wasagu, and Dabai.

According to the state government, the SUVs are expected to improve mobility for the traditional rulers and help them respond faster to security concerns in their communities.

Dutsinmari explained that the initiative fulfilled a promise earlier made by the governor to support traditional institutions with operational vehicles.

He said the administration recognised the critical role traditional rulers play in maintaining peace and supporting security agencies.

He added that many of the affected communities are located in remote areas facing growing security challenges, making transportation and rapid movement essential for effective leadership and crisis response.

“The governor understands the challenges facing the people in those locations.

These vehicles will make movement easier and improve coordination across the chiefdoms,” the commissioner stated.

The commissioner also noted that the Kebbi State Government would continue collaborating with traditional rulers, community leaders, and security agencies to protect lives and property across the state.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Chief of Wasagu, Alhaji Murtala Wasagu, thanked the government for fulfilling its promise.

He said the vehicles would help traditional rulers stay closer to their communities and improve their ability to address urgent matters quickly.

The distribution of the SUVs is part of broader efforts by the Kebbi State Government to strengthen grassroots security and improve governance in rural communities.
