National News – An aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency primary election, Dr Onyeije Onuoha-Kalu, has rejected the outcome of the exercise conducted in Abia State, insisting that he won the contest held on May 16, 2026.
Speaking to journalists in Umuahia on Sunday, Onuoha-Kalu claimed he secured victory in 15 out of the 22 wards across Arochukwu and Ohafia Local Government Areas.
According to him, he won eight wards in Arochukwu LGA and seven wards in Ohafia LGA, giving him the majority support needed to emerge as the winner of the APC House of Representatives primary election.
The Abia State National Assembly Primary Election Committee, headed by Barrister Erasmus Cishak, had earlier announced Ikenna Nicholas as the winner of the APC primary election for the constituency.
However, Onuoha-Kalu maintained that the declaration did not reflect the actual voting outcome.
The APC aspirant said the primary election process was still ongoing and expressed confidence that the party would uphold fairness, transparency, and the rule of law in handling the dispute.
He added that his immediate focus was to appreciate party supporters and constituents who stood by him during the election.
Onuoha-Kalu also urged APC members in Abia State to support governorship aspirant Chief Henry Ikoh, describing him as an experienced industrialist capable of creating jobs and improving governance in the state.
Meanwhile, the APC National Assembly Primaries Appeal Committee has commenced sitting in Abia State to receive petitions and complaints from aggrieved aspirants.
The committee, chaired by Chris Dajan, is expected to review appeals submitted in line with APC guidelines approved by the National Working Committee.
Party officials encouraged dissatisfied aspirants to formally submit complaints for fair consideration as the APC moves to resolve disputes arising from the primary elections in Abia State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
