National News – Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has called on the Federal Government and South-West governors to urgently approve the operations of the proposed Iru Ekun Security Network to tackle rising insecurity in the region.

He made the appeal on Tuesday while reacting to the recent kidnapping of pupils and attacks on schools in Oyo State.

Igboho expressed sympathy for the victims, parents, teachers, and security personnel affected by the attacks in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

According to him, criminal groups including kidnappers, bandits, and rogue herders have continued to terrorise rural communities and forest areas across the South-West and parts of Kwara State.

He stated that all necessary preparations for the launch of the Iru Ekun Security Network had been completed, but the group was waiting for official approval from the Federal Government, South-West governors, and security agencies before beginning operations.

The activist explained that the proposed security outfit is designed to flush out criminal elements hiding in forests and restore peace to affected communities.

He stressed that his team was fully prepared to confront the growing security challenges in the region.

Igboho also urged traditional rulers in Yorubaland to support efforts aimed at securing government approval for the security network.

He warned that delaying decisive action could worsen insecurity and increase fear among residents.

The appeal followed coordinated attacks on Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Community Grammar School, and L.A. Primary School in the Ahoro-Esiele area of Oyo State last Friday.

Several pupils were abducted during the attacks, while reports confirmed that a mathematics teacher, identified as Michael Oyedokun, was later killed by the kidnappers.

Residents and community leaders have continued to demand stronger security measures to protect schools and rural communities from further attacks.
