Tinubu Wins Edo APC Primary Landslide

National News – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recorded a sweeping victory in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary election held across Edo State on Saturday, securing 131,096 votes from delegates and party members across the 192 wards in the state.

The exercise was conducted simultaneously with APC presidential primaries in other states ahead of the 2027 general election.

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, who served as the returning officer for the exercise, announced the result at the APC Secretariat in Ikpoba Hill, Government Reservation Area, Benin City.

He stated that the election process was peaceful, transparent and orderly across the 18 local government areas of the state.

According to the governor, Tinubu’s only challenger in the primary, Stanley Osifo, secured just one vote statewide.

Okpebholo explained that Tinubu dominated the polls in all three senatorial districts, recording overwhelming support from party members.

In Edo South Senatorial District, Tinubu polled 9,177 votes in Oredo, 13,147 in Ikpoba-Okha, and 10,074 in Egor.

He also secured 10,044 votes in Ovia South West and 7,983 in Ovia North East, where Osifo received his lone vote.

The President also posted impressive numbers in Edo North and Edo Central senatorial districts. In Etsako West, he scored 11,497 votes, while Akoko-Edo delivered 7,464 votes.

In Esan West, Tinubu secured 6,820 votes, with strong performances equally recorded in Esan Central, Esan South East and Igueben.

Party officials and collation officers from all local government areas submitted the results during the final collation exercise in Benin City.

The APC described the primary as peaceful and successful, further strengthening Tinubu’s influence within the ruling party ahead of the next presidential election cycle.
