National News – Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Mohamed Buba Marwa, has ordered a full crackdown and prosecution of individuals involved in the violent attack on two NDLEA officers during an operation in Abuja.

The incident happened on May 15, 2026, in the Dawaki area of the Federal Capital Territory while officers raided a suspected drug den.

The injured officials, Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim, reportedly sustained severe injuries after they were attacked by a mob during the enforcement operation.

Both officers are currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja.

Speaking during a hospital visit on Monday, Marwa condemned the assault and vowed that those responsible would be tracked down and prosecuted.

According to the NDLEA boss, attacks on security personnel would not be tolerated under any circumstance.

Marwa stated that the agency would ensure justice is served and promised that the welfare and medical treatment of the injured officers would be fully covered until they recover completely.

He praised the officers for showing courage, professionalism, and dedication while carrying out their duties against drug trafficking and abuse.

The NDLEA chairman also presented commendation letters and support packages to the affected officers as part of efforts to encourage them during recovery.

He further commended medical workers at both the NDLEA clinic and the National Hospital for their swift response and treatment.

The agency reiterated its determination to continue the fight against illegal drugs, criminal networks, and drug cartels across Nigeria despite increasing resistance from suspected traffickers and criminal elements.

Security analysts say the latest attack highlights growing risks faced by anti-drug operatives during enforcement missions, especially in densely populated areas where criminal groups often resist arrest.
