National News – Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has distributed thousands of educational materials to 26 primary and secondary schools in Bende Federal Constituency, Abia State.
The intervention was carried out under the Renewed Hope Support Programme for Education aimed at improving learning conditions and supporting students across the constituency.
The distribution exercise took place in Bende Local Government Area on Saturday as part of Kalu’s constituency projects focused on human capital development and youth empowerment.
Beneficiaries received 1,000 chairs and desks, 8,000 school bags, 10,000 textbooks and exercise books, as well as 100 whiteboards to enhance teaching and learning in schools.
Speaking during the event, Kalu said the programme was designed to create a better future for students by giving them access to quality educational materials.
He stressed that the initiative would encourage pupils and students to focus on their studies without worrying about inadequate classroom facilities.
According to him, the intervention aligns with the educational vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Renewed Hope agenda.
Kalu noted that the government is committed to raising a generation equipped with knowledge, moral values, and opportunities for academic growth.
“We don’t want you sitting on the floor again. We want you to learn in a comfortable environment with proper desks, books, and school bags,” he told the students and teachers during the distribution exercise.
The Deputy Speaker also revealed that the 26 schools are only the first batch of beneficiaries, adding that plans are underway to extend the support programme to more schools within the constituency in the coming months.
