Oborevwori Declares Tinubu’s Re-election His Top Political Priority Ahead of 2027

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has declared that securing the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election is his foremost political objective, saying the President’s continued leadership would further benefit both Delta State and Nigeria.

Speaking during an interview on ARISE News monitored in Asaba, the Delta State capital, Oborevwori said he would actively mobilise support for Tinubu’s second-term bid, describing the President’s re-election as more important than any other political project.

“I’m appealing to Nigerians to vote for President Bola Tinubu. It is my number one project because it will enable us to do more for our people,” the governor stated.

Oborevwori attributed the increased financial capacity of state governments to the economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration, noting that Delta State has recorded significant improvements in revenue generation and fiscal stability.

According to him, the enhanced revenue profile has enabled his administration to execute numerous developmental projects across the state while promptly meeting contractual obligations.

“For the first time in the history of Delta State, we are not owing contractors. We do not wait for federal allocations before making payments. Once a project is certified, payment is made. Contractors are mobilised with 40 per cent of project costs and funding continues as work progresses,” he said.

The governor maintained that the Federal Government’s reforms were producing tangible results, particularly for sub-national governments.

“If the reforms are not working, would states be receiving increased allocations? More funds are coming to the states, and in Delta, the impact is evident in the projects we are executing and the obligations we are meeting,” he added.

Oborevwori also expressed confidence in the prospects of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State ahead of future elections, insisting that the party remains united and committed to delivering victory for President Tinubu.

He revealed that extensive consultations preceded the recent movement of political stakeholders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, describing the development as a “political tsunami.”

According to the governor, meetings were held with party leaders, elected officials, community stakeholders, religious leaders and non-indigenes before the decision was taken.

“We all agreed to move together, which is why the defection was massive. We moved en masse into the APC, and those who supported the decision remain committed to defending the party,” he said.

The governor further dismissed concerns about opposition parties gaining ground in Delta State, arguing that the performance of his administration and ongoing infrastructure projects would strengthen public support for the APC.

“There are numerous projects we have completed and many more are ongoing. The people can see the difference and appreciate the work being done,” he stated.

Oborevwori expressed optimism that Delta State would deliver substantial votes for Tinubu in 2027, citing what he described as the growing acceptance of the President and his policies across the state and the wider South-South region.

He concluded that the President’s reforms were yielding positive outcomes and predicted that Deltans would support Tinubu’s bid for a second term based on the perceived benefits of his administration’s policies.
