National News – Anatolia Energy and Services Limited has held a three-day leadership training for members of the Nembe Okiori Host Community Development Trust in Bayelsa State.
The programme was designed to strengthen governance and improve community development under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.
The training focused on leadership skills, teamwork, communication, and legal frameworks guiding Host Community Development Trusts.
It also covered stakeholder management and operational efficiency for oil-producing communities.
Participants included members of the management committee, advisory committee, and board of trustees.
The sessions were held in Nembe Kingdom and facilitated by experts in leadership and public communication.
Speaking at the opening, Anatolia Energy’s Chief Operating Officer urged participants to apply the training in managing community resources effectively.
He said this would support both development goals and smooth oil operations.
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) praised the initiative and encouraged accountability in managing host community funds.
Bayelsa State officials also commended the programme for improving capacity and governance standards.
Leadership expert Dr Emmanuel Dorgbaa advised community leaders to ensure transparency in project selection and execution.
He also stressed the importance of clear communication with residents to build trust.
The initiative reflects broader efforts under the PIA 2021 to strengthen host community participation in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
Stakeholders believe it will reduce conflict, improve project delivery, and promote sustainable development in Nembe and beyond.
