National News – Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has called on aspirants who contested in the party’s recent primary elections to accept the results and work together for the party’s future.

He made the appeal during the second National Executive Committee meeting of the NDC in Abuja on Wednesday.

The meeting brought together party leaders and members from across Nigeria as the NDC reviewed its progress following nationwide congresses, conventions, and primaries.

Obi stressed that internal competition is a normal part of democracy and should not create divisions within the party.

According to him, the NDC achieved a significant milestone by organizing major political activities within about 90 days of its formation.

He noted that even older political parties often face challenges conducting such exercises within a short period.

Obi also apologised for the delayed start of the meeting and thanked members who travelled from different parts of the country to attend.

He promised that party leaders would embark on visits to all states to deepen grassroots mobilisation and better understand the concerns of Nigerians.

Speaking at the event, Moses Cleopas praised members for their commitment and described the party’s rapid growth as remarkable.

Dickson also encouraged disappointed aspirants to remain loyal, saying political setbacks should not end their ambitions.

The NEC further approved plans to introduce electronic voting for future congresses and primary elections.

Party leaders said the move would improve transparency, reduce disputes, and modernise internal democratic processes.

The meeting ended with renewed calls for unity, discipline, and collective responsibility as the NDC prepares for future electoral contests.
