National News – The Niger Delta Ex-Agitators Forum (NDEF) has condemned what it described as a sustained media campaign against the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Otuaro, despite his efforts toward peace, stability, and development in the Niger Delta region.
The forum was reacting to allegations made by Alex Eyengho, who accused Otuaro of compromising national security by allegedly leaking sensitive information to undermine the interests of the Itsekiri people.
In a statement signed by its Convener, Emma Satu, the forum described the allegations as baseless and warned against dragging Otuaro into political disagreements between the Ijaw and Itsekiri ethnic groups.
Satu said it was unfortunate that a prominent Niger Delta leader such as Otuaro was being subjected to what he called unfounded attacks on social media.
According to him, Otuaro has remained focused on delivering the mandate of the Presidential Amnesty Programme since assuming office and has demonstrated commitment to the welfare and development of all ethnic nationalities in the Niger Delta.
He maintained that despite these media attacks by some enemies of the Niger Delta, the PAP Administrator has not sidelined any group and has continued to pursue an inclusive approach in the implementation of the programme’s objectives.
The forum consequently passed a vote of confidence in Otuaro and urged him to remain focused on his responsibilities.
It also called on the Presidency and members of the public to disregard the allegations, describing them as the handiwork of mischief-makers seeking to tarnish the reputation of the PAP Administrator.
