VIDEO: Gas Pipeline Explosion Rocks Soku Area in Bayelsa, Residents in Fear

A gas pipeline explosion occurred late Saturday night into Sunday morning in the Soku area of Oluasiri Clan, Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, causing panic among residents and raising fears of renewed militant activity in the Niger Delta region.

Eyewitnesses said the loud explosion, which happened around midnight, sent flames into the sky.

The pipeline is believed to be part of a major gas transport network in the area, though no group or individual has claimed responsibility for the incident as of press time.

Community sources expressed concern over what they described as a “renewed wave of hostility,” recalling similar attacks in the past that disrupted oil and gas operations in the region.

Authorities and the affected oil company are yet to release official statements regarding the extent of the damage or potential impact on gas supply.

The Bayelsa State Government has not commented publicly on the development, but residents have called for increased security presence to forestall further attacks.
