National News – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released over 1.8 million results from the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), providing candidates across Nigeria with access to their performance after days of nationwide testing.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, 1,264,940 results from candidates who sat for the exam on Friday, April 17, and Saturday, April 18, 2026 have been processed and made available.

This follows an earlier release of 632,752 results from those who wrote the exam on Thursday, April 16, bringing the total number of released results to 1,897,692 so far.

JAMB explained that the results cover the first three days of the nationwide examination, which began on Thursday and is expected to involve over two million candidates across various accredited computer-based test centres in Nigeria.

The board also clarified how candidates can check their UTME results, maintaining its standard SMS-based system.

Candidates are required to send “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration.

This method ensures secure and direct access to individual scores without the need for internet access.

The release aims to keep candidates informed promptly while ensuring transparency in the examination process.

JAMB emphasized that the results were carefully processed to maintain accuracy and credibility, addressing concerns about delays or discrepancies.

Why this matters is clear: the UTME remains a critical requirement for admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The timely release of results allows candidates to plan their next steps, including admission applications and post-UTME screenings.

As the examination continues nationwide, JAMB is expected to release additional batches of results in the coming days, ensuring all candidates receive their outcomes in phases.
