Chukwuebuka Enekwechi Secures 5th Place at Madrid World Indoor Tour

Olympic shot put finalist Chukwuebuka Enekwechi delivered a strong performance at the Madrid World Indoor Tour, finishing fifth with a throw of 20.38 metres against a world-class field.

The Nigerian record holder showcased his skill in a high-quality meet where several top athletes crossed the 21-metre mark, highlighting the increasing intensity of the indoor shot put circuit.

American Jordan Geist dominated the competition, matching his world-leading distance of 22.04m to claim gold. Jamaica’s Rajindra Campbell earned second place with 21.94m, while Roger Steen of the USA rounded out the podium with a throw of 21.88m.

Although the podium was claimed by throws exceeding 21 metres, Enekwechi’s performance demonstrates positive progress as he sharpens his form for the peak season. Competing against athletes already producing elite distances, the Nigerian’s 20.38m throw is a strong foundation for upcoming events.

As the indoor shot put season intensifies, Enekwechi remains in contention, aiming to move closer to podium finishes in future competitions. His Madrid outing confirms he is on the right track, with bigger throws expected in the months ahead.
