Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has addressed long-standing public perceptions about his personal life, insisting he is not a womaniser but simply someone who loves deeply.
In a recent Voice of Nigeria interview shared on Wednesday, the award-winning singer opened up about fame, fatherhood, marriage, and the pressures of public scrutiny, offering rare insight into his private life.
2Baba: “The Biggest Misconception Is That I’m a Womaniser”
Reacting to criticism that has trailed him for years, 2Baba said the label of “womaniser” is one of the biggest misconceptions about him.
“The biggest misconception about me is that I’m a womaniser. I like women; I’m just straightforward. But I’m a lover boy. I love hard,” he said.
The Afrobeats icon explained that while he is open about his personality, his emotional depth is often misunderstood.
2Baba Opens Up on Fatherhood and Raising Eight Children
Speaking candidly about fatherhood, 2Baba described having eight children as one of his greatest blessings — but also one of his deepest emotional struggles.
The music star admitted that balancing his demanding career with parenting has not been easy.
“I have eight kids now. I feel blessed and happy, but the sadness comes from the fact that I haven’t gotten to spend the type of time I should have spent with them collectively. It does something to me sometimes.”
Despite his regrets about time lost, he described his children as brilliant and a constant source of pride.
“They’re amazing, brilliant people. I just wish I was there more. It touches me from all corners.”
His comments highlight the challenges many celebrities face in managing family life and global careers.
2Baba Defends Wife Natasha Against Criticism
The singer also responded to claims that his wife, Natasha, is controlling or overly influential in his decisions.
According to 2Baba, such narratives are far from reality and often fueled by online speculation.
“Everybody has a say in everybody’s business now. Sometimes people say very nasty things.”
While he admits that criticism can be tough, he praised his wife as a strong and intelligent woman.
“You grow thick skin, but sometimes it gets to you. Reality is reality, she’s a brilliant woman, a strong woman.”
‘I’m Actually a Very Shy Person’ — 2Baba Reveals His True Personality
Contrary to his confident stage presence, 2Baba revealed that he is naturally shy and reserved.
He explained that his profession forces him to step outside his comfort zone.
“My profession doesn’t permit me to be shy, but I’m actually a very shy person.”
The singer added that he enjoys quiet moments and spending time in nature.
“Sometimes I just want to be alone and chill. Other times I want to hang out. I like nature; I have my moments.”
