Gaza, February 15, 2026 – At least 11 people have been killed in Gaza following Israeli airstrikes early Sunday, according to Gaza’s civil defence agency. The strikes come amid ongoing tensions and accusations of ceasefire violations by both Israel and Hamas.
The civil defence agency, responsible for rescue operations under Hamas, reported that one strike hit a tent sheltering displaced families in Jabalia in northern Gaza, killing five and injuring several others. Another strike in the southern city of Khan Yunis also killed five people, with additional injuries reported. A further death occurred from shelling in Gaza City.
Hospitals including Al-Shifa and Nasser confirmed receiving at least seven bodies from the attacks.
A military official stated that the strikes targeted Hamas fighters violating the ceasefire.
“Armed militants were identified east of the Yellow Line, likely exiting underground tunnels,” the official said, describing this as an explicit breach of the truce and a threat to Israeli troops.
The ceasefire, brokered by the United States and currently in its second phase, began on October 10. Under its terms, Israeli forces withdrew to positions behind the so-called Yellow Line but maintain control over more than half of Gaza.
Since the truce started, Gaza’s health ministry reports at least 601 Palestinian deaths, while Israel reports at least four soldiers killed in related clashes. Media access in Gaza remains limited, making independent verification of casualties difficult.
This latest escalation underscores the fragile state of the Gaza ceasefire and the ongoing humanitarian crisis, particularly among displaced civilians in conflict zones.
