Katsina Security Forces Rescue 21 Kidnap Victims, Arrest Four Suspects

Katsina, Nigeria – In a major security breakthrough, the Katsina State Government has rescued 21 individuals abducted by bandits and arrested four suspects following a joint operation in Dargaza Hills, Danmusa Local Government Area.

The mission was executed by the Department of State Services (DSS) in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, and Community Watch Corps, leveraging intelligence to target criminal hideouts.

In a statement released on Saturday, State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasir Mua’zu, said the operation successfully freed 16 women, two men, and three babies kidnapped from Gidan Sarkin Bayero Village in Musawa LGA and nearby communities.

“The rescued victims include 20 Christians and two Muslims, reflecting the indiscriminate nature of banditry and the government’s commitment to protecting all citizens, regardless of religion,” Mua’zu noted.

The commissioner explained that the operation specifically targeted the enclave of notorious bandit leader Kamilu Chiroma, also known as Buzaru, demonstrating the effectiveness of intelligence-driven strategies and close coordination among security agencies.

The four suspects are now under investigation and are expected to face the full weight of the law upon conclusion of the probe. The Katsina State Government also reaffirmed Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s commitment to ending banditry and restoring lasting peace across the state.

The government praised the DSS, Nigerian Army, Police, and Community Watch Corps for their courage, professionalism, and dedication during the operation. This success marks a significant step in the fight against kidnapping and organized banditry in Katsina, sending a strong message to criminals that the state remains resolute in protecting its citizens.
