Adamawa Auto Crash: Four Women Killed, 26 Hospitalised on Yola–Mubi Road

A tragic Adamawa auto crash on Monday evening along the busy Yola–Mubi Road has left four women dead and 26 others hospitalised, raising fresh concerns over road safety in the state.

The victims were travelling to the Annual Convention of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) in Demsa Local Government Area when the fatal accident occurred. The women were said to be members of LCCN Simra in Dunen town, Song Local Government Area.

Donan Prambe, Deputy Chairman of Song LGA, who witnessed the crash, described the incident as shocking and heartbreaking. According to her, she was driving behind the vehicle conveying the women when it suddenly lost control and began somersaulting into the bush.

“Three women died on the spot, while others were lying down without breathing, their bodies covered in blood,” she said.

Emergency responders moved the deceased and injured victims to the Specialist Hospital in Yola for urgent treatment. The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Dauda Wadinga, confirmed that survivors were receiving medical attention but declined further comments due to ongoing emergency procedures.

The Adamawa State Police Command has yet to release an official statement on the cause of the crash. Police spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje said he would provide updates after consulting the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area.

The Yola–Mubi Road accident has also revived memories of a similar tragedy last year, when another group of LCCN women travelling to the Demsa annual convention was involved in a crash at the same location, resulting in multiple fatalities. Authorities are expected to launch a full investigation.
